Pictured below are the Lacandon Mayas exhibited in
1938 at the Guatemalan Fair. All but one of these Lacandon
Mayas died from disease they caught from visitors to
the exhibit. The Lacandones were captured and
taken to the fair to be exhibited against their will.
When not on display, the Lacandones were kept in a crude
bamboo cage and their hands and feet were chained.
