Maryanne is a pigtail
macaque who was wild-caught in Indonesia by Charles
River Primates and on 18 November 1987, she was
sent to University of Michigan.
Maryanne's health records started on her day
of arrival, as did Madonna, and one other wild-caught
pigtail macaque who was named Olive. After many
years she spent in clinical and invasive experiments,
Olive became too sick to be retired and was euthanized
in the month of May 2003
the records did
not reflect the exact date.
Maryanne's paper trail began on 19 November 1987:
11-19-87 - TB test; X-ray (Thorax) . 14cc
Ivermectin SQ. a physical
11-21-87 TB neg.
12/11/87 2nd TB Test fecal taken-neg
12/14/87 3rd TB test right eye- blood taken for
routine values
Each of these times Maryanne was injected with
Ketamine:
2/10/88 - Ketamine IM (2) IV catheter Atropine
Im 20 minutes later-also redose of ketamine IM
then to pet center
For the remaining thirteen years, Maryanne and
Madonna were given Ketamine and checked for TB;
given rectal exams; cervix exams
They were
suffering from anorexia and diarrhea so they were
placed under observation for heavy breathing and
depression. It was documented that they were not
eating; they had bruises to their eyes, swollen
feet, suffered stroke, blood observed in their
fecal pans; excessive salivation; strange eye
movement
the pages of grisly observations
go on and on and on
